The essay that i chose to revise was the advertisement analysis. Some strengths i find in my essay is that I have supporting arguments. For example, i explain well why i thought the cover of a magazine was portrayed as an ad. Some weaknesses i thought my essays had was that it wasn't exactly an advertisement like Ms. Spencer had required us to write.
I am definitely going to revise my essay and make it sound a bit more professional and confident. For example, i plan to meet with my English teacher and also go to the writing lab to get better help on what it is i need to change. In a way i feel that my essay does lack a little bit of focus. I seem to repeat the same thing over and over and it doesn't really explain much about why the cover is an advertisement.
Another thing i plan to do to effectively revise my essay and get as much opinions from other people as to what else i can add on to the essay or so because of the fact that i tend to repeat the same thing.

Assignment # 13 :)
The essay that I analyzed was "Free speech off campus should be protected." I find this argument very convincing and it got me thinking about the different ways that the essay attracted myself and what i thought would attract the audience. The first thing i learned from the author was to use a lot of examples as i could. The reason why i thought it was a good idea to use a lot of examples was because it seemed like a good way to support your opinions and statements. For example, if i mention a statement and i back it up with evidence that makes my statement true then i feel like it would get the audience to think more about the point im trying to make. The second thing i learned from analyzing the essay was the tone he used while he was trying to convince people. For example, he writes with such a serious tone that makes his readers believe him and that he believes himself. When i write my essay im definitely going to use what he used because i think it will make my essay more effective and it will get my audience to believe me and have them think twice about my point.

Assignment # 11 :)
In my essays, i believe that the most errors that i make is not being very concise. I always get comments and not just in the essays we've done in class but in others as well about adding a little too much information. Another error i also see is being very wordy. By this i mean is i keep repeating the same words over and over. Lastly, i believe that my essays also tend to be pretty short. I feel like i write so much but just keep repeating the same thing.
I feel that some of the ways i can help these errors is by having a little bit of more peer review and have them tell me exactly how i can change the errors. I also have to proofread my essays more than once because it would probably help me see that i keep repeating myself. Lastly, i can help this by making sure that i am always concise and not writing unnecessary things on my essays by having my teacher proofread.

Assignment # 10:)
In my opinion i think the peer review we do in class is pretty effective because i personally like getting feedback from my peers and having them tell me what i should or should'nt include in my papers. Some ways i think it could be improved is by maybe having a big group discussion. For example, have everyone sitting in a big circle and having the peers face eachother that way we can all discuss on different ways to improve our writing skills and that way we can all have more communication with our peers and get to know one another so when it comes down to having small groups it isn't as awkward. As a peer reviewer i think i'd have to say that my biggest strengths is looking at the paper from a deeper perpective and try to understand why the person wrote it that specific way. One of my weaknesses is that i don't really look at the spelling or grammar part of a paper so i really can't help them in that area. My ideal peer review process is exactly what we are doing now. For example, writing rough drafts and actually having a peer read them and review them and give us advice on how to improve our paper is a pretty good thing. I still think we should have more group discussions. I love having both small and large groups. Small groups because you get face to face with your peers and get advice straight forward. Having large groups because you get advice from everyones different perspectives. I definitely feel that we do have the appropriate amount of time for peer review so i think we should probably do it a little bit more.

Assignment # 9 :)
So far I can honestly say that college was a lot more different then i expected. High school definitely did not prepare us for this. For example, everything we do in college is up to us. We are basically alone when it comes to classes and work and such whereas in high school we constantly had teachers pushing us to do work and to do better in classes. Some of the teachers here don't even bother reminding you nor do they even seem to care if you turn it in or not. Another thing i didn't expect was that we actually have a lot of real studying to do here. Back in high school never ever did i study. College is not something i dislike nor is it something i enjoy with a passion. What I do enjoy is the different events that go on and the different sources you can use for help with work. Also the fact that you can find a job on campus is pretty good too. Also a variety of different cultures and ages is also a plus. Meeting new people all the time is great. The thing i dislike about college is that they charge you for everything! Especially here at northeastern and sometimes you don't even need the things you're paying for and you cant even waive it off which is pretty insane i think. Overall, my college experience is going alright. Can't complain.

Assignment # 8 :)
So I chose to analyze the argument about how Amanda and some of her classmates were disciplinary charged because of some comments that they made on a social networking site. I personally think that it was unfair. The comment she made were not really harmful to anyone and they were OUTSIDE of school property. She is very well entitled to her own thoughts and opinions and i think she was charged unfairly. I think whatever is said and done outside of school and outside of school hours should not be any of the school's business. Unless of course she is threatening to harm any one from the school of the personnel. Topics like this always interest me because i feel that peoples personal lives should not be reflected upon work nor school. For example, whatever is said, done, or posted up on a social media network is done on their own time and people should really not be punished because of the things that they don't agree on.

Assignment # 7 :)
As I look back to my first class i do feel like i am making a progress on my goals for this class because I feel like the tips Miss. Spencer has been giving us really helps us improve our writing skills. I also feel like i tend to give in more detail as i write without writing too much and being precise. I feel like there isn't anything that has not helped me. Everything we go over in class has been very helpful and I can definitely say that i used most of the tips we go over. If i could change something in class to better facilitate my learning process it would probably be to have more group work instead of just reading everything on a power point. I think both are very helpful but we should have more peer reviews and things to communicate with our classmates. My writing process has pretty much stayed the same simply because I can focus better the way i do it so i don't plan to change anything. My writing however has indeed improved because of the phenomenal tips Miss Spencer has been giving us all semester for our essays and our work.
